When you are ordering standard size timber gates, remember to allow the following clearance space, plus the gate size, before you have your posts/piers erected. Using Our "Ordinary Hinges" 1.When hanging a pair of gates: A total allowance of 225 mm is required with these hinges. This allowance is for the centre gap and the hinges & hangers on both sides. Example: A pair of 1.800m gates require an opening of 3.825m 2. When hanging a single gate (This does not apply to side gates hanging from “hanging stiles”. A total allowance of 125mm is requires with these hinges. This allowance is ofr the closing gap and the hinges & hangers on the hanging side. 1. When hanging a pair of gates A total allowance of 100mm is required with thses hinges. This allowance is for the centre gap and the hinges and hangers on both sides. Example: A pair of 1.800m gates require an opening of 3.700m 2. When hanging a single gate
(This does not apply to side gates hanging from “hanging stiles”). A total allowance of 50mm is required with these hinges. This allowance is for the closing gap and the hinges and hangers on the hanging side. Example: A single 1.200m gate requires an opening of 1.250m

When we are given an opening or “OPE” between piers we allow the following clearance spaces for a single or pair of gates. Using Our "Ordinary Hinges" 1. When we are calculating the size of each gate for an “OPE”, we allow 225mm clearance for our fittings on a pair, & 125mm on a single gate. Using Our "Eye to Rear Hinges" 2. When we are calculating the size of each gate for an “OPE” we allow 100mm clearance for our fittings on a pair, & 50mm on a single gate. |
